Roger Gandelman Art Glass

Crystal Mirage Gallery and Glass at the Pass Gallery are proud to carry the Art Glass of Roger Gandelman. We have enjoyed his perfume bottles for more than 13 years in our gallery. We find his perfume bottles to be exquisite. The quality and care that goes into each piece is just amazing. And to top it off he has a smile a mile wide and is always a pleasure to do business with. We are sure you will enjoy his work and here is his biography to tell you a little about him.

Roger Gandelman

Roger Gandelman was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1952. He attended University of Denver in 1971, University of Hartford in 1972-1973, Southern Connecticut State University in 1977 and the Penland School of Crafts in 1978. He was an accomplished musician in the 1960’s and early 1970’s traveling around the U.S. and Jamaica. As a guitar player and blues singer he spent a fair bit of time in New Orleans. For 1 year in the latter part of his music career, he was Carly Simon’s personal guitar instructor.

Gandelman opened his own glass studio in 1974 and has not moved since. While he made a range of glass art pieces early in his career, he has focused solely on making unique high quality perfume bottles for the majority of the time since then. He typically turns down requests for commissioned work and exhibitions so that he can devote himself to perfume bottles without distraction. Gandelman is a low profile, accomplished artist not in pursuit of accolades and awards. His bottles are made with precision accuracy and most of them incorporate at least 2 paneled facets in each one.

His work can be found in a few selected museums around the country such as the Sandwich Glass Museum (Sandwich, MA), New Bedford Glass Museum (New Bedford, MA), Hudson River Museum (Yonkers, NY) and Slater Museum of Art (Norwich, CT). Gandelman today still derives great pleasure from his music. He routinely records songs in his basement singing and playing every instrument on the song. He then uses his audio mixing equipment to blend each recording into the same song. Once an artist, always an artist!
